In order to further stimulate the interest of our students in English learning，improve their English expression skills and provide a platform to practice speaking English, the School of Foreign Studies has specially held 10 sessions of U TALK series English corner activities this semester, which were set every Friday at 7: 00 pm in Mingyuan 1301 classroom. More than 600 people participated in the activities this semester.
As a campus cultural activity, the U TALK English Corner is open to all undergraduates at Chang’an University, and students can sign up and get credits. At the same time, in order to provide participants with a richer English learning experience, English Corner invites professional teachers to give guidance from time to time, and also many international students to participate.
U TALK English corner is divided into three basic sessions. In the free discussion part, there are two or three topics in each activity, ranging from small topics such as study and life to large topics as current social events;after discussion in groups, students freely share their views and express their opinions, which not only exercises the ability of communicating with others, but also promotes the improvement of oral expression. In the game, you say I guess, understand big players, shorthand words and so on. Students' enthusiasm is high, and they have found more fun in learning English. In the final Free Talk show session, participants can choose their own topics, share their experiences and express their thoughts on stage. This session provides students with a platform to show their spoken English and exercises their public speaking ability.
This semester, the U TALK series of English corner activities were held ten times, with more than 600 participants. The activity specially created a good atmosphere for English learning in the school, which not only enriched the students' campus cultural life, but also provided a broad platform for students to improve their abilities of English comprehension, which was widely welcomed and praised by the students.
