Historical Evolution

  • In December 2000, the Department of Foreign Languages, Chang'an University was established;

  • In September 2001, the English major for undergraduates of Department of Foreign Languages began to recruit students;

  • In January 2003, the Department of Foreign Languages, Chang'an University, was renamed the School of Foreign Studies;

  • In September 2003, the School of Foreign Studies was awarded Women's Contribution Civilization Demonstration Post in Shaanxi Province;

  • In February 2004, the School of Foreign Studies was designated as the National English Teaching Reform Pilot Unit;

  • In March 2004, the School of Foreign Studies was awarded Innovation Demonstration Post of the Education System in Shaanxi Province;

  • In September 2004, the School of Foreign Studies began to recruit undergraduate students of Japanese major;

  • In December 2005, the School of Foreign Studies was awarded the second-level master's degree authorization point of Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics;

  • In September 2017, the second-level master's degree authorization point of “Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics” was assessed, and the first-level master's degree authorization point of Foreign Language and Literature was successfully approved.
